71st Annual Congress of the International Institute of Public Finance

Advantage PCO was appointed bidding partner after competing with two other PCOs proposed by the Dublin Convention Bureau.

Together with the conference ambassador, Ron Davies, we successfully bid for and won the 71stedition of the Annual Congress of the International Institute of Public Finance for Dublin.

The congress was co-hosted by the University of Dublin, Trinity College, University College, Dublin and NUI, Maynooth. We worked primarily with Ron Davies, and also extensively with the IIPF secretariat in Germany.

Advantage PCO provided a full service management solution for the event, starting with a website. We booked and managed the venue, Trinity College Dublin, accommodation both for delegates and speakers and the full social programme which concluded with a gala dinner in the Round Room of the Mansion House.  The accessibility of the venue, accommodation and social programme was lauded many times, as it meant that delegates could walk everywhere.  We managed blocks of accommodation on campus in

Trinity College as well as in a range of hotels in Dublin’s city centre.  This service was critical to the success of the congress, as accommodation in Dublin in late August was in high demand.

We were very successful in procuring PWC as sponsor for the event.  We doubled the target for sponsorship, which ensured the financial success of the event, as the local organising committee to keen to keep registration fees low and attract a larger number of delegates.  This worked particularly well, and over 500 delegates attended the conference.

The client wanted a “paperless” solution for the event, and we achieved this with the Conference4me app which provided delegates with the detailed programme comprising 13 parallel sessions. Together with a badge, which doubled as a 16 page mini-programme, we achieved the client’s goal. We worked with the clients’ preferred abstract management system, Conftool and then populated the app from this.

The social programme comprised a drinks and canapés reception in the Dining Hall in Trinity College, excursions for all delegates to either the Guinness Storehouse or the Book of Kells (they indicated their preference during the registration process) and the gala dinner took place in the Round Room of the Mansion House, with an  Irish dance troupe, Bodhran workshop and traditional Irish band.
