The Brief: The International Financial client requested a region with good air access, sufficient five star accommodation, large conference facilities and space for team building activities.
The program had to be balanced to cater for the significant numbers of overseas delegates who were expecting the very best of Irish culture while at the same time meeting the needs of the participants whose home is Ireland. Killarney was selected as the location as it best fit all these criteria.
The 600 person conference commenced with an evening welcome reception outdoors in the hotel gardens. The call to dinner was a veritable feast of fire and pyrotechnics from Irish visual artists culminating in an extravagant welcome dinner and entertainment in the purpose built marquee in the hotel grounds.
After dinner and the lively show of Irish music, the hotel doors were opened to a variety of entertainers from the Camembert Quartet to a pianist and a DJ.
The next day a business meeting was held in the hotel’s conference centre followed by team building events at a Killarney landmark, Muckross House. That evening everyone enjoyed a champagne reception in the gardens followed by a magnificent black & white themed dinner. Rattle and Hum (a popular U2 tribute band) provided after-dinner entertainment which went into the wee hours of the morning.
On the third and final day the delegates convened once again in the hotel conference centre for the final business meeting followed by a farewell brunch in the marquee. And then in the early afternoon the 600 tired but highly motivated delegates left for their journey home by way of transfers to airports in Kerry, Cork, Shannon and Dublin.
